Remove Ask.fm

4 quick and easy steps to permanently delete your Ask.fm account, revoke third-party connections, uninstall the App and send your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) removal request.

Ask.fm (Website and the App) is operated by SIA Ask.fm with headquarters in Zala 1, Riga, LV-1010, Latvia.


 

 

1 REMOVE THIRD-PARTY CONNECTIONS AND APPS

 

1A) While logged into your account on Ask.fm go to http://ask.fm/account/settings/services then click the Remove Connection link for each connected services.

1B) Services should switch back to "Connect with..." as on the image below, that means the services are disconnected but you need to remove the App on third-party Websites as explained further.

 

 

 

2 DISABLE YOUR ACCOUNT

 

Now that you have removed and revoked all third-party services you need to access your account (login into the Ask.fm Website) to disable it.

Click here to recover your Ask.fm password if you have lost it.

2A) While logged into your user account on Ask.fm go to http://ask.fm/account/settings/deactivation then type your password and click Disable account. Ask.fm will log you out, your account has been disabled (deactivated but not removed, that's why you should sent a removal request on next step below).

 

 

Remove the Facebook app

If you ever used Facebook with Ask.fm (to login or share) you may have the Ask.fm Facebook App and it is recommended to remove the App even if you have it disconnected from Ask.fm, follow those step to do so:

1) While logged into your user account on Facebook.com go to https://www.facebook.com/appcenter/my?sort=alpha then find the Ask.fm App
2) Click "Settings" for the Ask.fm App
3) Click "Remove app" (we suggest that you report the app before removing it)

4) Check "Delete all you Ask.fm activity on Facebook" then click Remove


Done, the Ask.fm App for Facebook has been removed, you are not sharing anymore your Facebook account information with Ask.fm.

 

 

Revoke the Twitter Application

If you ever used Twitter with Ask.fm (to login or share) you may have the Ask.fm Twitter Application and it is recommended to remove the App even if you have it disconnected from Ask.fm, follow those step to do so:

1) While logged into your user account on Twitter.com go to https://twitter.com/settings/applications then find the Ask.fm Application
2) Click "Settings" for the Ask.fm App
3) Click "Revoke access" for the Ask.fm application

4) The button should have switched to "Undo Revoke Access", that means the Ask.fm application has been revoked, it may disapear next time you go back to your Twitter Applications.


Done, the Ask.fm Application for Twitter has been revoked, you are not sharing anymore your Twitter account information with Ask.fm.

 

 

Remove the VK (VKontakte) Application

If you ever used VK with Ask.fm (to login or share) you may have the Ask.fm VK Application and it is recommended to remove the App even if you have it disconnected from Ask.fm, follow those step to do so:

1) While logged into your user account on vk.com go to http://vk.com/apps, if Ask.fm Application does not appear on the "My applications" tab you can search for "Ask.fm" Application using the search tool.
2) Move your mouse cursor to the upper right corner within the Ask.fm area until you see the X sign then click on it to remove the Ask.fm Application.

3) Done, the Ask.fm Application for VK has been removed, you are not sharing anymore your VK account information with Ask.fm.


 

 

3 SEND A REMOVAL REQUEST VIA EMAIL


The most important step is to reach the Ask.fm Data Officer to formelly ask to have your account deleted (and not just disabled) and your personal information completely and permanently removed from the Ask.fm Website.

Click the SEND A REMOVAL REQUEST button to use our free ready-to-send removal request template (in English), its should open your default Email client (Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail...), then before sending it to the Data Controller please update [Your Email Address] (used to register your account at Ask.fm) [Your Username] and [Your Name], those fields are located at the bottom of the template.

For European Union users we strongly recommend to add the Data State Inspectorate in Bcc when sending the removal request, the Bcc fields are already set, up to you to remove them.


Send a removal request via Email


If the Email link above does not work with your Webmail (Google Gmail, Yahoo! Mail or Microsoft Outlook/Hotmail) proceed as explained below:

Download the removal request template in .TXT file format,

(The removal request sample letter is a .TXT file format, it is safe to download and it is rated safe by Google, Norton, AVG and Webutation), update the sample letter as explained above then copy and paste it in a new mail.

From your Email address (used to register on Ask.fm) send a -high priority with read receipt- Email.

4 REMOVE THE APP FROM YOUR DEVICE
